DAWN

A shift in the senses... can you feel it?
Not yet dawn, but past the darkness...
I think it is an awakening.
I feel cold, uncertain, but I start to see
What is around me
And suddenly, a twinge of gold;
Just a single thread on the carpet of this world
Bleeds it into life,
Paints it in pastels,
And as that shining grows so do the colours.
This is the miracle of each new day
But there will never be another sunrise quite like this
For this is my first.
So now the sun spreads its fingers out
And the world warms to my touch.
The birds never tire of the morning song
And neither shall I.
Taken outside of time for a glimpse
Of the power and the truth.
Safe.
I will never go back.
