Open your eyes.
Tamyka Bell
Really open them wide, and look.
Do you see me?
Do you recognise me?
When I told you I loved words,
And showed you my thoughts,
Did you believe me?
Did you think there was more?
There is always more.
Did you hear the bird call at dawn?
Did you see the light wash slowly over the land
And bring it to life,
Removing the stain of darkness?
Before the next dawn, you must
Open your eyes,
As mine have been opened.
