SHELTER

The clouds have cleared
And tonight I will see the moon
And the shimmering stars.
Tomorrow, will I see the sun?
I can sense its arrival already
And its glow has not yet faded.

When I arrived in this place,
The rain had set in,
But now it will leave me in peace.
I segue...

The darkness falls
And surrounds me.
I doubt and fear.
I feel more alone than ever before
As they return to haunt me.

Where did my strength go?
Why can I not fight?
But, more than all of that,
A deep sorrow cuts right through me;
Inexplicable,
Burning,
Yet so quiet and forlorn.

I retreat, feeling lost,
Dazed and confused.
I cower without the shelter of faith,
And then it rains.
The sun had been to bid me goodnight,
But somehow these heavenly tears
Would again flood my dreamscape.

I need you to rescue me,
Reassure me, protect me;
As the lightning strikes and thunder roars
I wait.

Though the clouds linger,
You make everything glow again.
You make me special again,
And I send the storm back to my ocean.
