Local Information
The Location
Couran Cove Resort is located on the beautiful Stradbroke Island, just an hour’s drive from either Brisbane or Gold Coast airports to the Ferry, followed by a relaxing 40 minute cruise along the Coomera river to the island. Accommodation and conference facilities are all on site. Accommodation is $199 per night, which can be either single rooms or twin-share for the economical amongst us. Two and four bedroom villas are also available and families are welcome. Guests should arrange their own accommodation needs directly with Couran Cove. See the instructions below.
Registration – DUE 31st AUGUST (original deadline of 15th August now extended)
Registration will be $400 for each participant. That includes ferry transport to and from the island, all meals, morning and afternoon tea, bike hire, and a special conference dinner on the Tuesday night. Registration should be paid directly to Couran Cove resort (see details below). It is important to pay your registration fee by the 31st of August. After that a late registration fee of $50 will be added. When you pay registration to Couran Cove we also recommend you book your accommodation, after the 3rd of September accommodation changes will be subject to availability.

You should book your accommodation needs directly with Couran Cove. When booking please also pay your registration fee.

Student travel funding
Some student transport funding will be available (please email a request to Tamara Davis).
Dates and Ferry times
The workshop will begin with a reception on Sunday evening, 26th of September 2010. Talks will begin at 9am Monday morning (27th), and we encourage everyone to arrive the night before because the earliest ferry on Monday morning is at 11am. We recommend that you aim for the 6pm ferry on Sunday night. (This is the last ferry of the day, so don’t be late!) On Wednesday the 29th of September we will be finished well in time for people to get the 7pm Ferry back to the mainland. Many of us will likely stay on the island on Wednesday night and leave Thursday morning instead (since the ferry won’t get you back to the mainland in time to catch a flight from Brisbane Wednesday night).
Getting to Couran Cove
Ferry transfer to Couran Cove from the Hope Harbour ferry terminal is included in your registration fee. However, we need to get you there from the airport (or elsewhere). Please email Jenny Robinson your arrival details so we can attempt to coordinate travel.
