WEDNESDAY Moderators Nikhil Padmanabhan and Greg Poole Pre-Wednesday Homework :

– participants should think of at least one well defined question/calculation that they think should be explored. These should be broadly characterized into “theory”, “analysis” and “future” projects (see below). These could be circulated as a single slide to the convenors… for shotgun discussions during the last two sessions.

Wednesday schedule :

9:00am – 10.30am : Discussion of future surveys.
Talks should be limited to 10 minutes (under pain of being attacked by some suitably ferocious creature from the forest) and should highlight challenges and open questions as well as a brief summary of the survey.
SkyMapper (Brian Schmidt)
PanStarrs (Nick Kaiser)
WALLABY (Lister Stavely-Smith)
TAIPAN (Heath Jones)
FastSound (Karl Glazebrook)
Big/e-BOSS (David Schlegal)

Summary and Discussion – Led by Poole/Padmanabhan covering: 1. Are there parts of survey parameter space that are not being covered? 2. What are the common challenges for all these surveys, and how are they being addressed? 3. Is there interesting overlap between these (and other) surveys and how best to leverage this?

10.30am – 11.00am : Coffee 11.00am – 11.45am : The future of Theory
Discussion

11.45am – 12.15pm : Break

12.15 – 1.00 : The future of Analysis
Discussion
